3 things you’ll learn.

Innovation doesn’t mean what you think it does

Most people think innovation is like the movie “Field of Dreams” – if you build it, they will come. But it’s not. In fact, it isn’t necessarily about discovering the next big thing. It’s about executing against strategy by systematically removing risks encountered along the way to making that strategy a reality. Learn how experimentation, the entrepreneur’s mindset, and innovation accounting are paving the way to better outcomes.

Why is innovation so hard?

Innovation is hard, because the deck is stacked against us. From the first days of our business and management education to our prejudice that innovation requires “genius” to rigid corporate structures, nothing is making it easy for would-be innovators. In fact, most established organizations are built to inhibit innovation, not foster it. Learn how to address these impediments and make innovation a “core competency.”

With the right collaborative system, every organization can innovate

Many organizations isolate innovation efforts to R&D departments and labs. If you segregate innovation efforts to those areas, it will leave out a lot of innovative potential – the rest of the enterprise. Including the rest of the enterprise takes extracting something that comes natural to entrepreneurs and making it available to those who are not. It takes equipping individuals and small groups with training, tools, and techniques to drive a structured approach to innovation. Learn how a Reference Architecture provides a roadmap to that structured approach.
