Authors

Abstract

As we discussed at TechVision’s Chrysalis 2019 conference, organizations aren’t just transforming, they are becoming Digital Enterprises. The transformation is on-going and pervasive as the Digital Enterprise is evolving to better enable the way we do business. One of the most critical factors towards securing and managing this new digital reality is a robust and inclusive Identity Management foundation. This report examines the key trends, directions and expected future state for Identity and Access Management (IAM) over the next 5 years. In fact, we believe IAM is the most important foundational element for securing and enabling most Digital Enterprise journeys.

This highly actionable report is designed to support enterprise technology infrastructure and support the vision organizations have for a secure and manageable digital future.  We make specific projections as to where we believe Identity Management will be going over the next five years and we describe a model for identity abstraction that provides an extensible services oriented architecture. We include newer disruptive models such as DevOp/ microservices in identity systems, cloud-based IAM, Decentralized Identity leveraging Blockchain, IoT support and traditional areas of focus such as IAM support for privacy/data protection regulations, and updated governance and provisioning models.

This report includes our updated TechVision Research “Top Twelve List” of the key areas to focus on as you develop your IAM strategies, architectures and roadmaps. We’ll also give you our perspective of the maturity and progression for each key area.
